Acceptable Use Policy
Woolly gives you a real search engine that crawls and indexes the live web. That comes with limits. This policy sets what you may not build or do. It applies to every engine and every account, and it is part of our Terms of Service.
1. Engines must not target illegal or abusive content
You may not create or run an engine whose topic, seed sites, or tuning is meant to find, surface, or promote:
- Adult or sexual content, including pornography and sexual services.
- Illegal goods or services: drugs, weapons, stolen data or accounts, counterfeit goods, or forged documents.
- Malware, phishing, exploits, credential theft, or other scams and fraud.
- Hate, harassment, or violent extremism, including content that attacks or dehumanizes people for who they are, or that promotes terrorism.
- Piracy: warez, cracks, pirated media, or tools whose main use is to break paywalls or DRM.
- Spam, auto-generated filler, content farms, and low-value pages made to game search.
- Doxxing or personal-data lookup: tools to find, compile, or expose private information about people.
Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). There are no exceptions. If we find it, we remove the account at once, preserve and report it to the authorities and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and cooperate with law enforcement.
2. How you run Woolly
You also may not:
- Impersonate another person, brand, or search engine, or present your engine in a way meant to deceive users about who runs it or where results come from.
- Disrespect the sites we crawl. Do not ignore robots.txt, hammer servers, evade rate limits or blocks, or try to reach areas a site has closed off. Woolly crawls politely by default, and you must not override that to abuse a source.
- Resell raw crawl data. Do not redistribute or dump the raw crawl or the index as a bulk dataset. Woolly is a search product, not a data broker. Results are for search, with links back to the source.
- Attack the service. Do not scrape, overload, reverse engineer, or attack Woolly itself, or try to break its limits or security.
- Break the law or others' rights. Do not use Woolly to violate any law, any third-party right, or another provider's terms.
3. You are responsible for your engine
You choose the topic and the sources, so you are responsible for what your engine surfaces and for how you present it. Keep it within this policy and the law where you and your users are.
4. Reporting
To report an engine or misuse, email abuse@woolly.run. If you are a site owner who wants content removed or your site excluded, see the Copyright / DMCA and removal policy.
5. Consequences
If you break this policy, we may, at our discretion and without notice where the risk is serious: remove content or seed sites, pause crawling, suspend or delete an engine, suspend or terminate your account, keep fees already paid, and, where the law requires, report you to the authorities. We decide what counts as a violation. Fixing a problem quickly when we flag it helps.
