Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Woolly at woolly.run. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Woolly.
1. What Woolly is
Woolly builds and hosts search engines from public web content. You choose a topic and settings. We crawl the open web to that spec, we read the public Common Crawl archive, we index what we find, we rank it, and we serve it as search results under your brand. Each result is a title, a short snippet, and a link to the source page on the web. We do not copy or republish whole pages, and we do not claim to own the content we index. It belongs to whoever published it.
In these terms, "Woolly", "we", "us", and "our" mean Great Land of Gems. "You" means the person or organization using the service.
2. Accounts
You need an account to use Woolly. We use Clerk to handle sign-up and sign-in. You must give accurate information, keep your login secure, and you are responsible for everything that happens under your account. You must be at least 18 and old enough to enter a contract where you live. Do not share your account or let anyone use it to break these terms.
3. Your engine, your brand
You own your engine's configuration: its name, topic, seed sites, ranking settings, look, and branding. You are responsible for the brand you present it under, and for having the right to use that name and those marks. Woolly provides the software, the crawling, and the hosting, and it indexes publicly available web content. We do not transfer ownership of that underlying web content to you, because it is not ours to give. It stays with its publishers.
4. Acceptable use
Your engine and your use of Woolly must follow our Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these terms. In short: do not build engines that target illegal or abusive content, and respect the sites we crawl. We can suspend or remove an engine that breaks those rules.
5. Payment
Woolly charges a one-time build fee to create an engine, and a monthly fee to host and serve it. Both are charged at checkout: the build fee once, and the first month covering the month ahead. The monthly renews on that date until you cancel. A full recrawl and any later change to an engine's size or sources are charged separately, at the price shown before you confirm. We use Stripe to process payments. By paying you authorize the charge and the recurring charge. Fees are stated before tax and you are responsible for any taxes that apply.
You can cancel a recurring plan at any time. Cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current period. If a build fails on our side, we refund the build fee for that engine. Except where the law requires otherwise, fees already paid are not refundable. If you do not pay, we may pause crawling or take your engine offline.
6. Content and takedowns
The web content we index comes from third parties. We respect robots.txt and we honor removal requests. If you are a site owner and you do not want your site in a Woolly engine, see our Copyright / DMCA policy for how to have it excluded or removed. If you run an engine, you must act on takedown and exclusion requests we forward to you.
7. Availability
We work to keep Woolly and your engine up, but we do not promise the service will always be available or error free. We may change, pause, or retire features, and we may run maintenance that briefly interrupts service.
8. No warranty
Woolly is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty about the accuracy, completeness, or quality of search results. Results come from the live web and can be wrong, out of date, or offensive. You use them at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Woolly and Great Land of Gems are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, and there they apply only as far as the law allows.
10. Indemnity
You agree to defend and cover Woolly against claims, losses, and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your engine, your branding, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
11. Termination
You can stop using Woolly and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, do not pay, or use Woolly in a way that creates legal or security risk for us or others. When access ends, your engines stop serving, and we may delete your configuration and data after a reasonable period. Terms that by their nature should survive, such as fees owed, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity, survive.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we will give notice, for example by email or in the app. If you keep using Woolly after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [PLACEHOLDER: governing-law jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of that place, and you agree to that jurisdiction.
